Making one out of an insight/unique with crushing blow and/or slow is well known. How to use an irin golem is not the question, or how to keep it alive. I think there is a misunderstanding about the original question. Immortal kings hammer (crushing blow and sockets)īonesnap, Crushflange, Bloodtree stump (crushing blow and resists) Item wise, i know insight is a classic base, but i think i may use things with crushing blow and/or slow with him (keeping sn eye out for resists). I think what ill probably end up with is something like 20 RS, 20 SM, 20 IG, 15 GM, 15 CE with other points spread out into the 1 pt wonders. Long story short, i think i sold myself that investment in IG is better than mages. My guess is that it would be best to get a few points in BG but mostly get golem mastery would be best to completely maximize it) I also am not sure how the blood golem/golem mastery life boosts stack. The golem was pretty survivable even with just it and a merc, but lack of life regen def hurt (im not sure if an item with life leach or lifetap would work on the thorns procs). I would amplify damage a group, and they would pretty well kill themselves on the golem, then CE'd it all up (like a good fishymancer!) The golem didnt work as well on exactly what you'd think, ranged attackers, esp casters. Long story short, the golem was actually quite good. I ran around a few areas on players 1 including eldritch, a pit run, couple other places and WSK (wish i would have done cows but for whatever reason i didnt think about it). I had an act 2 freezing merc with an insight (freezing not being the best choice, but didn't want to deal with swapping him out. I made my golem out of a bonesnap (crushing blow and some resists). I wanted to focus on my golem and not other summons just to see how it did. My gear is pretty entry level (had a total of +7 to IG and golem mastery, so was rolling with a level 27 IG who had ~6-7k life.
I respecced my alt necro (level 81) with 1 point in all the curses and maxing iron golem, golem mastery, and corpse explosion to see how the IG did.
